For many, the ultimate objective in Ranked mode is to attain the prestigious Predator rank, a status reserved for a very limited number of players and often necessitating months, if not years, of unwavering dedication.
Advancement through the ranks hinges on participants accumulating Ladder Points (formerly known as Ranked Points or RP) based on their performance in Apex Ranked games, including high team placements and bonus points.
In the current season, a number of Ranked players have resorted to exploiting the LP scoring system through a clever healing strategy.
Content creators HisWattson and Jayami have outlined the specifics of this exploit, highlighting precisely how individuals are racking up more than 100 LP in each match.
"You can easily hit pred with this strat," according to HisWattson.
The method involves amassing healing items, such as Syringes and, notably, Med Kits, to withstand powerful storms. Players consistently employ these items to heal themselves when taking damage from the storm. Coordinated teams of three leverage various Legend abilities to navigate the battlefield adeptly. Crypto's abilities help them steer clear of enemy encounters, Loba aids in resource gathering, and as others ultimately succumb, Lifeline is capable of utilizing her own healing abilities to endure until the final stages of the match.
Boosters can therefore secure top-tier placements without ever firing their guns and can earn easily over 100 LP per game. Given that a first-place finish earns you 150 LP and 100 for second place, coupled with any bonus points accrued, it's no wonder that fans are flocking to Ranked mode to try their hand at this technique.
"I had this happen with a random fill on Day 1 of this season. My teammate and I thought we were getting trolled," commented one player.
At the time of writing, Respawn has made no updates or announcements regarding this exploit. It remains to be seen whether and when they will introduce a hotfix to address the issue.
