Avowed has finally arrived, and we have a lot to explore. As you might already know, the game has only three classes: Fighter, Wizard, and Ranger. The Fighter takes the top spot in our tier list as the most balanced class in Avowed. It's great for beginners. This melee-focused warrior has amazing strength, durability, and powerful weapon usage. You can't go wrong with it.

Strengths:

  • Beginner-friendly due to survivability, very forgiving
  • Great for both defensive and offensive combat
  • High durability and stamina
  • Excellent crowd control with shields and heavy melee weapons

A-Tier: The Wizard

Who doesn't love a good spellcaster? Wizards take the second place in the Avowed tier list, being capable of dealing the highest damage in the game. However, this isn't as easy as it sounds. Playing a wizard takes more strategic placement and dodging, as they're always the squishy class in every game.

Strengths:

  • High burst damage potential
  • Diverse spell selection with elemental effects
  • Can deal damage from a safe distance, which works well with their low-defense

B-Tier: The Ranger

Avowed Best Class
Obsidian Entertainment

Well, technically the Ranger class in Avowed isn't B-tier but we need to have some sort of gradation. The Ranger is a hybrid class, that's good in both ranged and melee combat. It also offers some pretty neat stealth mechanics if you're into that. While not as powerful as the Fighter in melee or the Wizard in raw damage, the Ranger offers versatility and precision. The downside is that you need quite a lot of precision with this one. It's also not half as good if you're not into stealth gameplay and you aren't planning on using these abilities.

Strengths:

  • Amazing long-range sniping abilities
  • Stealth mechanics for avoiding enemy detection, are great if you're into that type of playstyle
  • Access to both ranged and melee weapons

Conclusion: Choosing Your Class

Each class in Avowed offers a unique playstyle suited to different player preferences:

  • Fighter (S-Tier) – Best Avowed choice for beginners, tanky, and high melee damage. Very forgiving and easy to master.
  • Wizard (A-Tier) – High-damage spellcaster requiring strategic play. Versatile, with some great gameplay options ahead of you.
  • Ranger (B-Tier) – Versatile mix of ranged and melee combat. The focus with this class is on stealth, so this is a great pick if it suits your playstyle.

Which Avowed class will you choose? Maybe the best approach is to give them all a try in the game and pick the best one for you. Stay tuned for more Avowed content!
