Counter-Strike 2's Cheater Problem - Hackers Everywhere

How are Valve handling the cheating epidemic?

Counter-Strike 2 is facing a growing issue with cheaters, and many players are expressing their frustration with Valve's lack of a response to this problem.

Outrage Over Prevailing Cheating Problem

Players are justifiably frustrated over CS2's growing amount of cheaters. More and more people are sharing stories of this unfun precedent forming within the community. Valve's promise of running a real-time VAC Live system to detect and instantly ban cheaters seems to be shooting it in the foot.

Content creator, PimpCSGO recently addressed this issue in a video directed at Valve, explaining how much cheaters are hurting the game for new and competitive players:

While it might be expected that a game as popular as Counter-Strike 2 would attract cheaters, it seems that Valve isn't putting in enough effort to address this game-ruining experience.

What is really frustrating is the absolute refusal of Valve to implement an intrusive anticheat. Like Pimp said, we are already used to it and many players play Faceit or Valorant already. If it is technically more simple, please stop refusing to implement it. Make it optional if you really think player would rather play cheaters than having a real working anticheat.

How Is Valve Addressing the Issue?

As of now, Valve has not released an official statement, leaving players wondering whether the developers will take action soon to ensure that players can enjoy one of the most famous first-person shooters.

Valve's anticheat is working, however, not as great as people might imagine. A new problem was reported recently regarding AMD's Anti-Lag feature getting players banned for cheating.

AMD's latest driver has made their "Anti-Lag/+" feature available for CS2, which is implemented by detouring engine dll functions. If you are an AMD customer and play CS2, DO NOT ENABLE ANTI-LAG/+; any tampering with CS code will result in a VAC ban. Once AMD ships an update we can do the work of identifying affected users and reversing their ban.

What This Means for the Game's Future

Players are currently boycotting the game out of frustration from running into cheaters almost every match, and more professional players are starting to denouce Counter-Strike 2 until the issues around cheating have been resolved.

Tied with the technical issues due to the possibly rushed launch of the game, the reviews on Steam are not looking great as this has become Valve's worst-rated game ever.

If Valve continues to remain silent and fails to take action to address this problem, more players may start migrating to alternative games until Counter-Strike 2 becomes enjoyable once again.
