Despite a strong initial reception and record-breaking sales for Blizzard, Diablo 4 has seen a decline in interest since the launch of Season 1. Even streaming viewership plummeted by 99%.
This dwindling interest became painfully apparent during a recent Diablo 4 event. On September 9, Blizzard Korea partnered with Korean esports broadcaster TEN to host a live show featuring two teams competing in Diablo 4.
Unfortunately, the event did not go as planned, as the stands were nearly empty, and the livestream struggled to reach 300 viewers at its peak. A Reddit post on the Diablo 4 subreddit revealed that a streamer attending the event was asked to stop streaming after expressing surprise at the low attendance.
In the accompanying thread, photos showed mostly vacant seats, with only a few people in the audience. One Redditor commented, "Says a lot about the state of the game when even in Korea, with its large Blizzard fanbase, a live event is practically abandoned, and viewers barely peak at 300 on the official channel."
Many others in the comments shared the sentiment that the game appears to be "dead." One commenter criticized the game, saying, "It's a boring game with no items worth pursuing. The loot is terrible. I won't spend more money on it." Another commenter, while somewhat more optimistic, hoped that Blizzard would recognize the urgency of addressing the game's problems.
