Monster Hunter Wilds is a game about going against powerful monsters and earning loot to craft your own weapons and armor. The game offers a plethora of weapons for you to choose from, alongside tons of gear to customize your character. Having said that, the most important part of the game is its combat and the various ways you can go against the monsters. Underwater combat has been a mechanic present in some of the older games of the Monster Hunter franchise, but it sadly will not be returning to Monster Hunter Wilds.

Will Monster Hunter Wilds Have Underwater Combat?

Unfortunately for us, Monster Hunter Wilds will not feature underwater combat. The feature has been present in some of the older games, but it will not be included in Monster Hunter Wilds. While this feature was definitely an interesting way to expand the combat of the Monster Hunter franchise, it wasn’t loved by players. Constraining the players’ movements underwater is certainly not something that you generally want to do, and while it could’ve been implemented in a new way in Monster Hunter Wilds, we sadly did not get the opportunity to try it out. Maybe the underwater feature will see a rerun in a future game, but for now, we can only hope.

Underwater Content in Monster Hunter Wilds
While the game will not feature underwater combat, you will still interact with a bit of underwater content. In some maps, you will be required to dive through water in order to reach a new place. The diving comes with unique diving and swimming animations, so the basis for underwater content is there, but it is still too early to say whether CAPCOM will decide to expand on it or not!
