Previous Choices & Gameplay

If you're a fan of Dragon Age, you might be wondering how your choices from Dragon Age: Inquisition will carry over to this new installment. Players will be able to directly select three key decisions made in Inquisition. According to Creative Director John Epler, prior choices have minimal impact on Veilguard, allowing the developers to maintain consistency with past player decisions.

Character creation in Dragon Age: The Veilguard includes choosing a lineage (human, dwarf, elf, or qunari), a class (rogue, mage, or warrior), and a backstory tied to one of six factions, which influences the character's journey. The customization options are very details, such as body size, scars, specific body parts, and pronouns. 

Companions & Romance

Dragon Age: The Veilguard features seven companions, from which players can choose two to form a three-member combat party. Unlike Dragon Age: Inquisition, the romances in Veilguard have no restrictions. You can pursue a relationship with any companion you like. This change addresses a criticism that previously set Baldur’s Gate 3 apart, making Veilguard more inclusive in its romance options.

Combat System

The combat system has shifted to a real-time action style but retains the option to pause and strategize, offering a blend of action and tactical gameplay.
