Who wasn't disappointed by the removal of Hextech chests in League of Legends. They are a staple in the game, offering us a chance to win free cosmetics, often times skins. However, recent changes to the way these chests are distributed left many players feeling dissatisfied. Thankfully, the community was vocal enough for Riot Games to take the feedback seriously and bring back Hextech chests to LoL. Here's everything we know.

Hextech Chests Will Return To LoL

Removing Hextech Chests because they're not good for Riot Games' earnings was a huge mistake, sparking lots of memes and hate toward Riot Games. The good news is that in the latest LoL dev talk, the team acknowledged that Hextech Chests played an important role in making League of Legends feel rewarding. In response to player feedback, Riot Games is bringing back Hextech Chests to LoL with a new distribution method, starting in Act 2 of the current season.
New Way to Win Hextech Keys
LoL players will be able to earn up to ten Hextech Chests and Keys per Act. These will be available in two primary ways:
-
Battle Pass Rewards: Eight Hextech Chests will be integrated into the free Battle Pass track. They will replace the previously offered Seasonal skin and the 1350 or Lower Skin. Winning a random skin can often be more exciting than working for a champ skin that you won't use.
-
Honor System Rewards: The remaining two Hextech Chests per Act will be related to the Honor system. Riot wants to encourage positive player interactions, rewarding those who contribute to a more enjoyable and respectful in-game environment. In the short term, these Honor-based Chests will be distributed through missions. As you might remember, Honor Capsules were removed by Riot Games recently...
It's good to know that our feedback has been heard and we won't be losing one of the most exciting aspects of LoL.

Additional Updates from Riot
The return of Hextech Chests isn't the only change Riot Games is introducing due to negative fan feedback.
-
Champion Acquisition Improvements: The Blue Essence cost of all champions will be reduced by 50% in the next patch.
-
Changes to Paid Seasonal Pass Skins: Riot is replacing one of the non-Prestige skins on the paid Battle Pass with 25 Mythic Essence.
-
Your Shop & Blue Essence Emporium Return: Riot has confirmed that Your Shop will return in patch 25.6, and the Blue Essence Emporium will follow in patch 25.7.
Conclusion
It's a good day for LoL players - the voices of the community have been heard. At the end of the day, what makes a game good but her fanbase? According to the recent Dev Talk, Riot Games is committed to listening to player feedback and making necessary adjustments to ensure that League remains an engaging and enjoyable game for all. The team will continue monitoring player reactions, engaging with the community, and refining these updates to align with player expectations.
