The developers behind Honkai: Star Rail held their Version 2.7 special program today, and during it, they revealed a whole ton of content not only for the upcoming version but also for Version 3.0, which is scheduled to come after it! One of the new things they revealed to be coming in Version 3.0 is the ability to reroll a Relic’s sub-stats to hopefully finally get the god-tier pieces we’ve always been praying for!

What is Relic Reroll
Relic Reroll is a new function that will become available early next year with the release of Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0. This function will allow players to consume a new item known as a [Variable Die] to reroll a 5-star Relic’s stats. The Die will only be usable on relics that are Lv. 15, so you won’t have to worry about wasting it on weaker relics. This function allows you to take a piece with good sub-stats but bad rolls and try your luck once again in the hopes of getting better rolls the second time around. The function will basically randomly redistribute the number of enhancement attempts that you’ve done. So although it doesn’t guarantee that you will get the sub-stats rolls that you want, it will nonetheless give you a new shot at them without having to farm for an entirely new Relic piece.

How to Use
To use the Relic Reroll function, you will be asked to consume 1 Variable Die. After consuming the die the game will automatically redistribute the enhancement attempts and give you a choice of whether to maintain the old ones or pick the new rolls. It is worth noting that regardless of which result you decide to keep, the consumed Variable Dice will not be returned. In addition, the number of enhancements before and after re-rolling will not change. Lastly, the Variable Die will not change the sub-stats that already exist; it will only redistribute the enhancements between them.

How to Get Variable Die
Getting to the star of this whole function, the Variable Die. The Variable Die will be a new item introduced in Version 3.0, which players will be able to obtain through the following means:
Synthesis
You will be able to exchange 3 Self-Modeling Resins for 1 Variable Die. There will be no limit to the number of exchanges you can do in this manner, so if you’ve got a ton of Self-Modeling Resins you’re wondering what to do with, then now you might just have found a use for them!
Nameless Honor (Battle Pass)
The second way of obtaining Variable Dies is through the game’s battle pass. Following the release of Version 3.0, the Battle Pass will contain 1 Variable Die at a certain level for the paid version of the Battle Pass, otherwise known as the Nameless Glory. There will not be any Variable Die in the free-to-play version of the battle pass.
