The Herta is the newest 5-star unit to be added to Honkai: Star Rail. She is the first new unit in Version 3.0, and honestly, she’s great. Her damage potential is amazing for an Erudition character. Given how Erudition characters have been treated ever since the game's first release and have only recently gotten better with the introduction of Rappa, it is amazing to see that Erudition is getting yet another powerful unit added to the roster.

Is The Herta Strong?
Yes, The Herta is a strong main DPS unit. She has a lot of burst damage built into her kit, which comes into full play when she’s fighting against a wave of 5 enemies. Is she good in single-target scenarios, you might ask, and my response to that would be, “Well, somewhat.” While The Herta has decent damage against a single target, it is quite a step down from the massacre she can unleash against a full wave of enemies. Her unique mechanic, known as Interpretation, allows her to build up stacks on enemies, and with each stack, The Herta gains more damage. The cool thing about this mechanic is that it can be spread to other enemies, making it an amazing tool for any Pure Fiction stage, due to the sheer amount of damage The Herta can unleash on numerous foes. This is why it only leaves a bad taste in my mouth when you find out that you won’t get nearly the same use when you’re going against a single target, but at the end of the day, The Herta is an Erudition unit, so it’s not like she can do everything.

Should You Pull for The Herta
The Herta is certainly strong. In addition, with the release of Version 3.0, she also has a great support unit in the form of the Remembrance Trailblazer, whose buffs seem like they were perfectly catered towards The Herta and her playstyle. In addition, The Herta also has a really free-to-play-friendly team that not only uses the REMC but also finds a use for Gallagher and even Serval, who’s been sitting on everyone’s bench for quite some time. Still, if you want to go wild, she also has an amazing premium team that includes both Lingsha and Robin to greatly boost The Herta’s damage, so if that’s your cup of tea, you can certainly go for that.
All in all, The Herta is a decent character who seems like she’s here to stay, and from what we’ve seen of Erudition units, she feels like a unit that will still be viable even with quite a few versions in the future. In short, The Herta is a strong and futureproof unit that excels against a number of enemies and has a decent F2P team. If you are lacking in Erudition characters, you won’t go wrong with her. If you already have a good Erudition team set up and are happy with it, you might want to save your Stellar Jade for the new Remembrance unit that is coming out in the second phase of Version 3.0.
