In the expansive universe of Starfield, it's remarkably easy to amass a stash of contraband in your inventory, only to recall your illicit possessions at the most inconvenient moments, like when you're about to be scanned on arrival at a planet. This predicament can lead to unwanted detentions. Fortunately, there's a way to ensure this never happens again.
In this Starfield guide, we'll reveal how to safeguard your ship's cargo hold, granting you the freedom to traverse the cosmos without the stress of contraband-related troubles.
Obtaining Shielded Cargo in Starfield
For swift access to shielded cargo in the early stages of the game, make your way to the Porrima Star System. On Porrima III, locate a reputable gambling establishment known as the Red Mile.
Inside the Red Mile, proceed to the office situated at the back-right corner, where you'll meet Lon Anderson.
Engage Lon in initial conversation and then select "I'd like to view and modify my ships," entering ship-building mode. Lon offers an extensive range of ship components, some of which provide shielding for your cargo holds, concealing them from prying contraband scanners.
Browse through the available categories until you reach the "Cargo" section. Here, you'll find Lon's inventory of cargo holds, but the specific one you need is the "Shielded Cargo Hold." There are various options with different capacities and price points. The most budget-friendly choice is the "100CM Ballast Shielded Cargo Hold" priced at 1425 credits.
If you require a larger capacity, any other "Shielded Cargo Hold" will suffice. Just ensure that the name includes the term "shielded."
Once you've made your selection, make the purchase and place it next to your ship. Remove the current cargo hold attached to your ship and replace it with your newly acquired "Shielded Cargo Hold."
With this upgrade, you can bid farewell to the threat of detention. You're now free to explore the Settled Systems without worry, transporting any contraband of your choice.
