The second phase for the Version 1.4 update, [Revelry Season], in Infinity Nikki is set to begin next week on April 8, 2025. While the second round of updates for a version is always a time of joy, thanks to the new events they add and the ability to pull on new outfits, this time around, the announcement was met with serious backlash. This backlash mostly has to do with the new [Epiphany Crystals] that were announced to be introduced in one of the paid packs. Let’s dive into more details below.

What are Epiphany Crystals?

The Epiphany Crystals are a new type of premium wishing currency that players can supposedly only use to summon on limited-time 4-star outfits. Up until now, players have been able to summon on limited-time 4-star outfits with the standard premium currency, Diamonds, and by using the Revelation Crystals, which are also used on limited 5-star outfit banners. The introduction of a new premium currency solely for the 4-star limited-time banners. There is currently no information on whether players will still be able to use Revelation Crystals to summon on the limited-time 4-star outfits, and it is certainly a major point of interest.

Why are Epiphany Crystals Bad?

The Epiphany Crystals are bad because they are a limited currency that only has one purpose, and that is to pull on 4-star limited-time outfits. If this currency had been introduced at the launch of the game, then the community would not have reacted as strongly; however, the issues come from the fact that it is being introduced close to 6 months after the game’s release. The fact that the Epiphany Crystals can exclusively be used for 4-star limited banners leads us to believe that this is a new type of currency that the developers will be trying to push more of in events and other means to try and limit the amount of Revelation Crystals that they give out. If the developers reduce the amount of Revelation Crystals in favor of these newly added Epiphany Crystals, then they would be drastically limiting their F2P community. Up until now, players had a choice of whether to pull on 4-star or 5-star limited banners, due to the Revelation Crystals being used for both. However, now with the introduction of the Epiphany Crystals, you won’t have that choice anymore. The whole point is that Infold Games is intentionally reducing the freedom that players have to try and get more people to eventually buy Revelation Crystals to get those limited 5-star outfits.

The silver lining here would be if the Epiphany Crystals are their own thing and are simply an additional reward that will further boost our pull income. However, if that is not the case, and Infold Games decides to lower the Revelation Crystal income in favor of Epiphany Crystals, then they can surely expect a huge backlash from the community.
