Arena is a unique addition to League of Legends’ game mode. It's a fast-paced, small-team battle format that can be very fun. Unlike Summoner’s Rift or ARAM, Arena focuses on 2v2v2v2 combat. In this article, we will discuss the Arena changes discussed in the recent LoL Dev Talk - new map, fame system, return date, and more.

New Maps: Koi Pond and The Reckoner Arena

Arena will feature two fresh battlegrounds. They both have unique aesthetics:

Guests of Honor

Arena will now feature Guests of Honor. This means LoL players will be able to vote for a specific champion (such as Darius, Vladimir, or Mordekaiser) to appear in the match. The chosen champion will introduce a unique rule that affects gameplay.

  • This feature makes sure that no two Arena games play out the same way, forcing players to adapt and experiment with new tactics.

Fame System

Progression in Arena is getting a major overhaul with the introduction of the Fame system. Instead of focusing solely on wins and losses, Fame rewards players for their overall performance, creativity, and contributions throughout a match. This will supposedly make players more competitive and give them a reason to return to the game.

  • This system allows players to feel a sense of accomplishment regardless of whether they place first or fourth, encouraging them to improve.
