Manor Lords Will Not Announce Pricing Until Launch

Manor Lords' release date is a few days away and gamers are eager to start. Even though on April 26, Slavic Magic will only launch early access and we can expect to have issues while we play, people are expecting an amazing experience. 

Manor Lords will combine a city-building simulation with elements of real-time strategy like large-scale battles. We know that the developer's focus is on the city-building side of the game and has worked tirelessly to create an experience we will enjoy. Slavic Magic has said a few words about what our expectations for the game should be but many gamers are concerned that we have no idea about the price of Manor Lords yet. 

The publisher behind Manor Lords, Hooded Horse has written an explanation as to why we have yet to see a price tag. Some people were starting to worry, thinking that when the game launched it would be more expensive than they expected. 

Why Manor Lords Hasn't Announced a Price Yet

Hooded Horse explained that Manor Lords, like all other games on Steam, will not have one price. It will have different prices that depend on your region around the world. These are not currencies as Steam uses US dollars across the globe but the actual cost of the game will change based on the country you are in.

In some countries around the world prices and wages are far less or more than in the US so Steam acts accordingly. This makes games affordable to everyone who wants to buy them. The price in the US might not be the same as in the rest of the world. Nowadays, when a game developer announces a price for their product some people will see it is too expensive for them and lose hope. 

Slavic Magic and Hooded Horse are trying to avoid this and on the day of the release, the accurate price will be available for everyone. 

So we don’t like to declare a price in advance of release. Because sharing the US price alone will lead to misunderstandings. People will be concluding the game is unaffordable in their region when at launch they will have pricing that will work for them. And whatever disclaimers we’d attach would probably be dropped when it is repeated elsewhere causing a bunch of people to lose hope and feel the game won’t be affordable in their country.

Hooded Horse added that they would like everyone to be aware that we shouldn't worry about the price. They have never done, nor do they plan on doing, AAA pricing on a game no matter how popular it is or becomes. They have always been fair and given discounts for early access. This is not going to change. 

We're not trying to squeeze every last dollar out of people, we won't be putting up 5 editions with a spreadsheet needed to understand them or locking up content into Day 1 DLC. There's going to be a fair price there at launch with a fair discount.

After the announcement, the fans showed a wave of understanding and appreciation for the honesty. This proves that people are starting to see which game developers and publishers actually care about their fanbase. We have a few more days before we can see exactly what Manor Lords will offer and until then we have the reviews.
