Getting your hands on honeycomb takes a bit of hard work in Minecraft. This guide walks you through everything about harvesting honeycomb in Minecraft, from locating bee nests to safely collecting the sticky stuff.

Before you can harvest honeycomb in Minecraft, you need to track down a bee nest or beehive. Bee nests spawn naturally in these overworld biomes:

  • Meadows - 100%
  • Plains and Sunflower Plains - 5% chance
  • Flower Forests - 3% chance
  • Birch and Oak Forests - 0.2% chance

Your best bet for finding a bee nest is exploring meadow biomes. Bee nests always appear high up in trees, on the sides of logs just below leaf blocks. You'll also see bees buzzing around nearby.

Once you locate a bee nest or player-made hive, you'll need to wait until the bees have filled it with honey.

To harvest the honeycomb, use a pair of shears on the full nest or hive. This drops 3 honeycomb items but also angers the bees inside. To avoid being stung, place a campfire within 5 blocks below the nest. The smoke calms the bees, letting you harvest in peace. On Bedrock Edition, extinguish the fire afterward to protect the bees.

Now that you've got some honeycomb, what can you do with it? Here are the main uses:

  • Crafting Beehives - Combine 3 honeycomb and 6 wood planks to make your own beehive, which can be placed anywhere.
  • Preventing Copper Oxidation - Combine 1 honeycomb with 1 copper block to make waxed copper, which won't turn green over time.
  • Making Candles - Placing 1 string above 1 honeycomb creates a placeable light source.
  • Building with Honeycomb Blocks - Arranging 4 honeycomb in a square makes a decorative honeycomb block.

That covers the basics of getting honeycomb in Minecraft. With a little exploration and the right tools, you can find bee nests, harvest honeycomb, and put it to good use decorating and building.
