Getting into PoE can be quite a handful, especially for beginners, and one of the most important things you might want to learn is how to trade. In this guide, we'll show you the basics of what you need to know to trade in PoE.
How to Get Started With Trading in PoE:
First off you'll need to visit Path of Exile's main website and log in using the account you're playing on. Next, you'll want to go and click on Trade, which will bring you to the official trading site, which looks like this:
Make sure to select the platform and the current league you're playing in from the top-down menus on the right:
Once that's done it's pretty easy to start trading in Path of Exile.
How To Purchase Items in PoE
Once you've gathered some resources like Chaos Orbs (which is the main currency for trading), you'll need to know where and how to spend them. There are a lot of build guides that require specific unique items or rare ones with specific stats to get going in Path of Exile. This guide will help you easily search the PoE market for them.
How To Find and Purchase Unique Items In PoE
Depending on what you're looking for it can be really easy to find the items you need. For example, if you're looking for a certain unique item all you need to do is enter the item's name in the search bar. Here I'm looking for some nice leveling boots the well-known Wanderlust Wool Shoes:

Once you select the name just scroll down and click search on the bottom of the screen. You'll receive a list with all the currently listed available items with the same name sorted by the lowest price by default:
All you need to do from here is to click on Direct Whisper on the right side of the page under the seller's name. When you do that, you'll automatically whisper to the player in-game with a message asking to buy the item you've picked on the Path of Exile trading website:
Usually in PoE If the player is available they'll send you a party invite. Accept and make sure to have the currency needed for the trade ready. Then all you need to do is right-click on their portrait in the top left and select Visit Hideout.
Once you load they should send you a trade request (if they don't, you can also send them one). When you accept, a window will pop up where you need to put the items you're trading for in Path of Exile. In my case, I put in 3 Chaos Orbs on my side and they put the Wanderlust Wool Shoes on their side. You'll need to mouse over the opposing person's item and then click accept to finalize the trade in Path of Exile:
If you happen to misclick along the way, don't be afraid to explain to the player as the Path of Exile community is great and always helps out new players. Also, make sure to leave a nice note as it's proper PoE etiquette:

How To Find the Rare Items You Need in PoE
Finding rare items in Path of Exile can be a bit trickier since the stats they have are randomized and they don't have a specific name like the unique ones. You will have to look up and identify the stats you're looking for using the various filtering options.
For example, here I'm looking for a six-linked evasion base rare body armor with some life, resistance, and spell suppression on it, and it's not corrupted.
If you can't afford the item you need, you can always try to lower the value of the stats as that usually leads to a cheaper alternative in PoE. From there just follow the procedure from above and you'll have your items in no time.

How to Trade Currencies in PoE
For some items in Path of Exile, you can go directly to the buyers and sell your items in bulk. This is done with currencies, maps, scarabs, and more. You usually use this function when you want to convert your other currencies into Chaos Orbs.
From here you just need to click on what you want and what you're offering.
When you click on search, you'll see all the available trades waiting to happen. It's usually wise to ignore the first few entries as there are usually players who try to do price fixing in Path of Exile.
Once you find a price you deem suitable for you, you can use the sliders to do bulk trading instead of doing the trades one by one. From here just click Direct Whisper and the process is the same as before.
Selling Items In Path of Exile
Selling items might be a bit more of a challenge in Path of Exile as it requires purchasing premium stash tabs to do that. The cheapest way to get those is by buying $5 worth of points and upgrading your normal tabs to premium ones. You can also wait for a stash sale which usually happens every other weekend.
