Aglaea is finally out, and with this comes the question of whether you should pull for this character or not. Luckily, with the release of Version 3.0, we’ve gotten a ton of events that have helped us increase our Stellar Jade supply, and who knows, you might have just been lucky enough to get the 500,000 Stellar Jade jackpot, in which case you probably shouldn’t even need to think about whether to get this unit or not. For those of us who haven’t been so lucky, it’s time we discuss how good Aglaea is and whether she’s worth it.

Is Aglaea Strong?

Aglaea is strong; there’s no doubt about that. She can deal damage, and she can deal a lot of it. That being said, there is a huge BUT here. Most of Aglaea’s damage comes from having her Memosprite, the [Garmentmaker], out on the field. While there are various ways to keep Garmentmaker out, the best way is to constantly have Aglaea’s ultimate ready. Aglaea’s ultimate transforms her Basic Attack and basically allows Aglaea to go wild. The problem with the whole thing is that Aglaea’s ultimate costs 350 Energy. That’s the highest in the game and a number that is hard to reach by normal means. While Aglaea is strong, her energy requirements are simply stupid. It is very hard to reach this number without either investing in her E1 or pulling Sunday, both of which require you to spend a ton of additional Stellar Jade. Aglaea can deal a ton of damage, but right now she’s held back by her outrageous energy requirements, which can only be fixed by pulling for her E1 or other limited 5-star units such as Sunday.

Should You Pull?
Honestly, it is hard to recommend pulling for Aglaea if you don’t already have all the tools needed to make her work. If you don’t already have Sunday and aren’t planning on pulling for Aglaea’s signature Light Cone, then you’re better off just waiting and saving your Stellar Jade for some other, more free-to-play-friendly unit. Aglaea is without a doubt a premium unit in the true sense of the word. She requires a lot of investment, both in her and in her teammates. And the worst part? She’s a DPS unit. She’s likely to suffer from power creep and become useless 2-3 versions from now. So my verdict on her is to pull if you really love the design and the character, but if you’re looking at her from purely an investment standpoint, then she’s one of the worst investments you can make right now.
