Should You Pull for Escoffier

This piece will discuss my thoughts on the newly released 5-star character in Genshin Impact, Escoffier.

Escoffier is the newest 5-star unit to join the Genshin roster in Version 5.6, and she is the breath of fresh air that the Cryo element desperately needed in order not to suck. Cryo has been the weakest element in Genshin Impact for quite some time now, and while I find it one of the coolest, there never were any strong characters to use from it, mostly because the Freeze mechanic doesn’t even work on bosses, and that is like most of what Cryo is useful for. Well, with Escoffier’s launch, Cryo fans can finally rejoice as a lot of Cryo units are back to life and usable. So let’s discuss if you should pull for Escoffier or not.

Is Escoffier Strong?

Escoffier, by nature, is a support unit, but her damage is nothing to scoff at. Her elemental skill has a better multiplier than Ayaka’s ultimate, and while the damage it deals is spread out in a longer time window, Escoffier doesn’t need to be on the field for it to happen. Her ultimate also has a decent multiplier, and given that Escoffier scales from ATK%, you can expect to see decent damage from her when built.

However, that is not where Escoffier shines. She’s one of, if not the best, Cryo/Hydro support units right now, thanks to her ridiculous 55% Hydro/Cryo RES shred. If you have a mix of 4 Cryo and Hydro units in your team, you can expect to see damage increases of 30% or more for your main DPS units, which is absolutely wild for units such as Ayaka and Wriothesley, who have been out of the meta for quite some time. And this also extends to Hydro as well, giving decent buffs to units such as Ayato, who has recently fallen off a bit. I honestly love what HoYo has done with Escoffier and how she plays, and the fact that she brings life into the almost forgotten Cryo element. It is also clear that HoYo is slowly trying to revive Cryo with overpowered support units such as the recent Citlali and now Escoffier’s release.

Should You Pull?

I honestly think that Escoffier is quite a good investment in the current state of the game. With Snezhnaya likely coming out in 2027, it seems that HoYo is steadily trying to bring Cryo back to the spotlight and get it to a usable state for the Tsaritsa’s release. With this in mind, it is safe to assume that more Cryo DPS units will get added in the future, and Escoffier is the perfect unit to support them all. She is easy to play, can heal, and deal damage, and is overall quite investment-worthy in my opinion. Will she get power powercrept sooner or later? Of course, but if you’re a fan of Cryo and have been itching to get those characters out on the field again, then there is no better unit to do that than Escoffier.
