Well, well, well, Hugo is finally out, and with this, we have our first vampire friend to pull and play around with. I’ll be honest, when I first saw Hugo, I wasn’t completely stoked for his release. Yes, I’m a fan of tall male models in my gacha games and usually tend to pull for these units, but I didn’t really resonate with Hugo at first glance. However, seeing reviews go at him and push his damage, I have to say that my mind regarding the unit quickly shifted!

Is Hugo Strong?

Despite being the third Ice DPS unit to join ZZZ’s roster, Hugo is actually quite unique and fun to play. He brings about a completely different playstyle from Ellen and Miyabi while also not falling short of either of them. He tends to focus more on a single big hit rather than several smaller ones, so he’s not exactly my cup of tea, but oh boy, does he hit hard. With his premium team, you can see hits of up to 4 million, and if you tune in over to IWinToLose Gaming’s channel, he has a showcase with a full M6 team for Hugo, which brings Hugo’s hits up to 10+ million per Totalize. That’s bonkers. All in all, his damage is definitely up there, and if you happen to have a Lighter or Lycaon at hand, you can bring out a lot of Hugo’s potential.

Should You Pull for Hugo?
Now comes the important question. Should you pull for Hugo? My answer here is actually 50/50. DPS units are not generally good units to invest in, unless they are ridiculously overpowered, which Hugo just isn’t. He’s a decent DPS agent who can deal serious damage, but he’s not meta-defining in the way Miyabi was. And with 2.0 just around the corner and Yixuan being announced, I don’t think that Hugo is worth the wishes. If you like his design, character, and playstyle, then for sure, go for him. However, if you’re solely after meta and are looking to optimize your account as much as possible, I advise skipping him and waiting for the 2.0 units, more importantly, Yixuan.
