Should You Pull for Phoebe

In this piece I’ll discuss my opinions on Phoebe and if you should pull for her.

Version 2.1 is finally out, and with it, we finally have access to the newest limited 5-star unit, Phoebe. Phoebe is a Spectro Rectifier user and a unique unit that offers two playstyles depending on which stance you use her with. Honestly, Phoebe’s kit took me a bit of time and some YouTube videos to figure out, but once I did, I noticed that it’s not as complex as Kuro made it seem to be. They really do love to put whole paragraphs for each new unit’s skills. That aside, after getting to know her kit better and fiddling around with her, Phoebe certainly did seem quite appealing.

Phoebe is a unit that can be used either as a main DPS or a sub DPS. Having said that, most of the usability for her sub DPS playstyle is locked behind the newly introduced Frazzle mechanic. Right now, this doesn’t leave a good impression, as the only unit that can reliably apply Frazzle right now is the Spectro Rover, and it honestly doesn’t allow Phoebe to go into the sub DPS playstyle with ease, locking you into playing the main DPS Phoebe until more units are added in the future that can utilize Frazzle. While this is great if you were planning to use Phoebe as a main DPS, to begin with, it still feels a bit sad that we have to wait for god knows how long until we’ll be able to use her as a sub DPS. That aside, as a main DPS, Phoebe does quite well. Her Heavy Attacks hit like a truck, and the range, that she gets due to being a Rectifier user makes her quite fun and safe to play. Her teleportation mechanic with the circle from her skill is quite fun, and having different attack animations relative to your position with the circle is also a pretty nice touch. I can definitely see that a lot of work has been put into Phoebe’s kit, and right now she is in a great spot as a main DPS unit.

Should you Pull?

Honestly, as with any DPS unit, I generally find it hard to immediately recommend them. While Phoebe is amazing on release, that is the case with any other main DPS unit. They are bound to be great for the first one or two versions after their release, so it’s no wonder that Phoebe is doing so great right now. That being said, Phoebe is not strictly a main DPS. She also has the ability to function as a sub DPS, and while that part of her kit is hard to explore at the moment due to the lack of other Spectro units, it might just become her preferred playstyle in the future as more units are added. However, right now you can only play her as a main DPS, so if you decide to pull, pull with that thought in mind. For Phoebe, I’m leaning more towards pull, as she might as well become a must-have in Spectro teams in the future, thanks to her sub DPS availability. But if you do not like the unit and are not much of a fan of Rectifiers, Spectro, or just don’t wish to wait on future availability, then judge if you need a new main DPS or not. If yes, sure, go ahead and pull for her. If not, maybe hold off a bit.
