Should You Pull for Yumemizuki Mizuki

This piece will look at my thoughts and opinions on the new unit in Genshin Impact, Yumemizuki Mizuki, and share whether you should pull for this unit or not.

Yumemizuki Mizuki is finally out, and I personally won’t be rushing to her banner. This is mostly because I do not think that she is all that great and because she’ll be added to the standard banner after the start of Version 5.5. Having said that, it is worth discussing whether Mizuki is worth pulling for, as some of you might still want to give this unit a shot before waiting and praying from the standard banner.

Is Mizuki Strong?

Let’s first talk about Mizuki’s strength as a character. Truthfully, Mizuki is quite awful as a unit. She mostly relies on Swirl reactions to do damage, but her Elemental Skill locks her into this weird gliding state, which doesn’t allow her to normal attack. Due to most of the viable options for Tazer teams, such as Beido, Yelan, and Xingqiu requiring that the on-field character attack, it is impossible for Mizuki to work with them. This makes it so that you’ll have to work around already working teams to try and find something usable for Mizuki, which just ends up being worse. Her Elemental Burst is pretty bad as well. While it can heal a bit, its healing is negligible, and its damage is awful. The only thing that Mizuki has going for her is her ability to boost all Swirl damage, so some teams with Venti might be fun, but that is only in scenarios with many enemies. Against single enemies, Mizuki is downright awful.

The only redeeming feature that Mizuki has is that Elemental Skill doubles down as a good exploration ability. If you jump from high enough you can cover quite a distance because you always keep the same height due to gliding. And you can also dash during the Elemental Skill’s duration, making it a good traversal tool if you don’t happen to have any of Natlan’s units. However, apart from that, Mizuki is just a worse alternative to Sucrose.

Should You Pull?

No. I strongly advise everyone not to pull for Mizuki. The unit itself is not great, and while her design might be interesting, and the character might certainly appeal to some, Mizuki is simply not worth the investment of Primogems, especially when she’s about to enter the Standard Banner in the next version. She is not a great Anemo Catalyst user and is honestly just a worse Sucrose. You can go for her if you have the resources, want to complete your collection, and don’t want to pray that you eventually get her from the Standard Banner, but for most people, she will be an easy skip.
