Gamers, the anniversary update for Wuthering Waves is finally out, and do you know what that means? It means that we finally get to pull for Zani. Honestly, Zani has been on my radar ever since she was first announced, and seeing as how she ended up being a Gauntlets user, I was even more hyped for her release. Luckily for me, she didn’t disappoint at all and actually managed to exceed some of my expectations when it came to how much damage she can do. Sadly, there are some points that made me have second thoughts about pulling her, but I can’t just skip a Gauntlets user; it’s not like me. With that out of the way, let me talk some more about Zani and give you my thoughts on whether you should pull for her or not.

Is Zani Strong?
Zani is the newest 5-star Spectro unit to join the game. She is a Gauntlets DPS character, and one that is heavily reliant on the Spectro Frazzle mechanic to unlock her full potential. Most of Zani’s damage comes from her ultimate, or rather, the form she enters once she unlocks her ultimate. The amount of damage you can do during this form is highly tied to the amount of Heliacal Ember she’s gathered before activating her ultimate, and those Heliacal Ember are directly tied to the amount of Spectro Frazzle stacks applied on the enemy. So you can see how important Spectro Frazzle is for her.
If you’re able to max out the amount of Heliacal Ember you have before activating Zani’s ultimate, then you can do some serious damage in that window. Combine this with the fact that you can swap out of it and then back in and also freeze enemies with her Resonance Skill, and then Zani becomes one ridiculously fun unit to use, especially for people who aren’t all that great at dodging, like myself.
So, all in all, Zani is strong, really strong. She’s one of the best DPS units in the game right now, and while she is a bit picky about her teammates, this might be addressed in the future, and once it is, she’ll become one hell of a powerhouse!

Should You Pull?

Now then, the important question: should you pull for Zani? Honestly, with any DPS unit, I find it hard to immediately recommend them as a must-pull unit. This is because DPS units can be powercrept very easily, and while Zani is strong right now, that might not be the case in some versions in the future. Combine this with the fact that she isn’t the most versatile character in terms of teams, and she’s not that easy to recommend. Yes, she can deal damage, and yes, she’s fun to play, but her future viability and team versatility stop her from telling you to pull for her right now. She might become great in the future as more Spectro Frazzle units are added, but I can’t recommend a unit based on what they will be in the future. As such, for me right now, Zani is a MAYBE. If you like the unit, for sure, pull, but if you’re an F2P player trying to save resources for the best units, then Zani is most likely a skip in her current state.
