It has officially been confirmed that Silent Hill 1 will be getting a remake. The game was originally released in 1999 so maybe you haven't played it. Don't worry - we have a short recap, including only the important events in Silent Hill 1.
Silent Hill 1 Plot Explained
Warning: The following text below contains spoilers from the original Silent Hill game's plot.
The Beginning
Years ago, a girl named Alessa Gillespie was subjected to horrific abuse by a fanatical cult in the town of Silent Hill. Their goal? To use her as a vessel to birth their so-called "god." But Alessa wasn’t an ordinary child - she possessed extraordinary psychic abilities. In the middle of the ritual meant to complete the cult’s dark plan, Alessa managed to disrupt it by splitting her soul in two.
One half of her soul escaped the town, taking the form of a newborn baby who appeared near Silent Hill’s outskirts. That infant was discovered by a man named Harry Mason and his wife, who raised her as their own and named her Cheryl. For seven years, Cheryl lived a normal life, while Alessa, trapped in a coma back in Silent Hill, endured a waking nightmare crafted by the cult to prolong her suffering.

A Trip To Silent Hill

Eventually, exhausted and desperate, Alessa began calling her other half back to her. Unaware of the deeper pull, Harry took Cheryl on a vacation to Silent Hill - a trip likely prompted by Cheryl’s subconscious connection to the town. But before they could reach it, Alessa projected a ghostly image of herself onto the road, causing Harry’s car to crash just outside town.
When Harry woke up, Cheryl was missing. Without him knowing, Cheryl had reemerged with Alessa, allowing her to move about the town and place the Seal of Metatron - a sigil she believed could destroy her physical form and end her suffering. But while Alessa spread the seal, she also spread her nightmare, since her comatose body was still tethered to the Otherworld.

Trust No One

As Harry searched for Cheryl, he encountered Dahlia Gillespie, Alessa’s mother and the architect of her torment. Pretending to be an ally, she convinced Harry that Alessa was a dangerous force that needed to be stopped, even giving him a tool designed to suppress her powers.
Eventually, Harry confronted Alessa. The device activated and harmed her, giving Dahlia the chance to seize her daughter using a powerful ritual that rendered Harry unconscious. When he awoke, he found himself trapped within Alessa’s rotting nightmare realm. Deep inside, he finally encountered Dahlia and what remained of Alessa’s physical body - now barely human. At that moment, the cult’s god began to emerge from within her.

Different Endings

Like the rest of the Silent Hill games, this one has alternative endings.
Harry manages to defeat the creature. As a final act of grace, Alessa appeared before him one last time and entrusted him with a newborn - the last remaining fragment of her soul.
If Alessa doesn't give Harry the baby, but you managed to save Cybil earlier, she will help you escape.
If Harry doesn't save Cybil and Alessa doesn't give him the baby, there will be a final scene in which we see he died in the car crash at the beginning of the game.
So, if you managed to get Alessa to help Harry escape the collapsing nightmare, he leave Silent Hill, baby or no baby in his arms. Years passed...
And so began the events of Silent Hill 3.

There you have it - a quick and short summary of the events of Silent Hill 1. We hope you're excited for the remake as much as we are! Stay tuned, we'll be posting more related content.
