As you step into the uncharted realm of Bethesda's space RPG, "Starfield," the choices you make at the start can shape your entire cosmic adventure. Among the critical decisions you'll face is selecting your starting skills. These skills will define your capabilities, strengths, and approaches to challenges throughout the game. In this article, we'll delve into the five best starting skills that will set you on the right path for success in "Starfield," ensuring you're well-prepared to conquer the challenges of the cosmos.

In Starfield most tasks will grant you experience and you will inevitably level up. For every new level you will gain 1 skill point you can spend on the huge talent tree the game provides. Here are 5 skills we think will greatly help you on your journey early on:

#5 - Boost Pack Training

Like any other game in which you spend most of the time running around, mobility is very important. Using boost packs will help you traverse in pretty much any situation. Moving between points of interest, exploring the map in order to scan and scouring for resources, as well as helping you position properly in combat situations. Any mobility options are always welcomed and we definitely suggest picking up this skill up.

#4 - One of the Weapon Enhancements

While exploration is the bread and butter of Starfield, combat is not far behind it. You will find yourself in engagements against all sorts of alien life forms and many, many pirates. We suggest you try out different weapon types at the beginning of the game in order to find something that suits you. Once you have found a favored weapon type you should invest a point to further increase its damage and utility. Don't forget to try to keep unlocking the next ranks to increase its effectiveness!

#3 - Wellness

There isn't too much to say about this one. Health bars in video games are the amount of mistakes you can make before having to retry. It's never a bad option to opt in for extra health, especially if you are playing on a higher difficulty setting. A lot of players are also going to prefer the exploration aspect of the game over the combat, so having some extra health to power you through those parts could be very valuable.

#2 - Medicine

Similar to the concept of 'more health=always good' we have the Medicine skill. You will be using so many Med Packs on your journey, so why not make them a lot better? Better Med Packs means you will have to use less of them so you will never run out of healing on your journey. The 'Rank 4' upgrade is also going to be very useful as afflictions are very oppressive if you have no way to deal with them in Starfield.

#1 - Weight Lifting

Ah, good old max capacity in Bethesda games. We all know the feeling of wanting to loot every single thing we come across in open world games. It's even worse in games by Bethesda as you can loot even the most basic of props in each zone. The current UI of the game also feels a bit unintuitive and sluggish to transfer, store or vendor items, so increased carrying capacity is definitely a must in this game. We recommend taking this skill as soon as possible so you can rank it up faster and benefit from being able to carry all those random cups and plates you will definitely need on your journey!
