The Game Awards has just announced their full list of nominations for all of their different categories across the board. Last year, we saw Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 take the majority of the awards, and this time around, it looks like it might be even more competitive. While this year did not have many of the usual AAA releases, it did have a ton of amazing indie games, early access releases, and the occasional sleeper hit, especially around the summertime. In this article, we are going to go over the six games that were nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards 2024!

The Game Awards 2024 - All Game of the Year Nominees
The annual Game Awards show is a celebration of all things related to gaming, being equal parts award show and a place for developers to announce their future releases. Last year, gamers were interested to see whether or not Baldur's Gate 3 would reign supreme, especially when put against games such as Spider-Man 2 and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This year, it's a bit more interesting, as there weren’t that many big releases, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Black Myth: Wukong being the only games that fit the usual bill.
Balatro is a very interesting nomination, and while indie games have been given the nod in previous years, nothing in the deckbuilding roguelike genre has ever come close. The most interesting nomination by far is Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, being only an expansion pack for the base game that already won the award a few years ago. Whether this is due to there not being many considerations this year or just a bit of favoritism towards FromSoftware, we are unlikely to know, but there will definitely be a lot of discussion around this topic.

With all that said, here are the six games that are going to be competing for the Game of the Year award at the Game Awards 2024:
- ASTRO BOT
- Balatro
- Black Myth: Wukong
- Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Metapahor: ReFantazio
While the winner this year is not clear, we assume that it's going to be a close race between Black Myth: Wukong and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also has a considerable chance, but we don't believe the game made enough waves in the gaming sphere during its release. We are going to be covering everything surrounding the Game Awards 2024, so make sure to stay tuned for more!
