Another League of Legends update is here and things look very different. Patch 15.2 didn't buff or nerf a lot of champions but there are some changes because of the release of Mel. She did shake up the meta, so much that she got a surprise hotfix nerf. We'll look at the most and least popular Ranked picks, across all LoL ranks and regions. This article will give you a hint at which champions are the most wanted and which ones get banned for being too OP.

Commentary and Takeaways

Mel

Mel’s release in this patch instantly skyrocketed her ban rate, which was expected. After all, no one wants to face off against a champion they haven't had a chance to learn. But things took a sharp turn when it was revealed that Mel was downright OP. The LoL team had no choice but to roll out a nerf hotfix to bring her back in line with the meta. Expect her ban rate to drop significantly in the next patch as she stabilizes.

Viego

Typically, the top 3 or top 5 most-picked champions are dominated by ADCs. But this time, we’re seeing a jungle champion make a surprise appearance in the big 3—Viego. His strength and reliability in the current meta have made him a go-to pick, and it’s no wonder why he’s become a fan favorite among LoL players. He brings unmatched dueling power and game-changing resets, making him a top contender in the jungle.

Lulu & Nami

Blitzcrank and Morgana are usually staples among the most-played supports, known for their aggressive playstyles and lane-carrying potential. But this time, they’ve been swapped out by Nami and Lulu. These two were often slept on for a while, but now they’ve surged in popularity as go-to Ranked picks. With their utility, healing, and powerful disengage tools, they’ve become the secret weapons in today’s support meta.

Pyke

Pyke is back among the most banned champions. We get it - he's a menace in bot lane. This support offers some OP damage, stealth, and nasty healing. It's great to play as him but way less fun to play against him.
