What is Green Rain in Stardew Valley?

You'll know a green rain day is coming in Stardew Valley by checking the Weather Report on TV the previous day. It will say, "There appears to be some kind of...anomalous reading..."

When you wake up the next morning, the green rain will be blanketing the whole valley.

The mysterious weather is actually a good thing. Despite its eerie appearance, the green rain itself is harmless. However, it does cause some changes to the landscape overnight, such as:

  • New mutated plants grow, including bigger trees and plants
  • More valuable items like Moss and Fiddlehead Ferns are going to be available

You can gather moss from trees using any tool and use it to make things like a Mushroom Log, Speed-Gro, or Moss Soup. Wild trees also give Mossy Seeds. If you see trees that resemble big vines, try to chop them down to get many Fiddlehead Ferns.

It is recommended that you gather plenty of Fiddlehead Ferns when the green rain happens because they're necessary for the Community Center bundle and only grow in summer.

After the green rain passes the next day, all the mutated trees and plants will disappear. So be sure to scour the valley and collect as many of these items as possible while you can!
