Just today, the Wuthering Waves community discovered that there is a hidden pity system for Echoes.
Currently, the only way to increase your chance of getting an Echo is by increasing your Data Bank level, but through testing, players have discovered that you can always guarantee which Echo you’ll get, making the grinding process easier.
This guide will explain how this works so that you can start using it when playing Wuthering Waves.
Hidden Echo Pity Explained
Echo farming is by far the most time-consuming and annoying part of Wuthering Waves. It is demotivating to have to farm a specific Echo you need just for it to not drop, and when it does drop, it will have crap stats.
What if we were to tell you that there’s a guaranteed way to always get the Echoes you want to drop? Hard to believe, right? Well, there is such a way.
It was recently discovered that Echo drops work following a pity system similar to how the gacha system works but with smaller numbers.
This pity is divided between Echo classes, and the number of Echoes you need to kill to guarantee an Echo also varies between Echo classes. You cannot use this method and kill Common Class Echoes to easily guarantee Overlord Class Echo drops.

For example, when fighting Overlord Class Echoes, you are always guaranteed to get an Echo on your second kill. This means that if you kill the Thundering Mephis and don’t get his Echo drop, the next Overlord Class Echo you kill is guaranteed to drop an Echo.
This drastically decreases the time you need to farm Echoes and will make it easier for you to target farm only the Echoes you need.
The same is true for Elite Class Echoes, but for these Echoes, the pity is 4 rather than 2. This means you will always get an Echo on your 4th Elite Class Echo kill.
It should also be mentioned that you can always get an Echo drop before the pity, meaning that you can get two Overlord Class Echoes in a row, or you might get 2, or 3 Elite Class Echo drops in a row. However, even if that happens, it only resets the pity timer, so you can continue farming freely.
NOTE: This pity only guarantees an Echo drop. It DOES NOT guarantee whether the Echo will be 3, 4, or 5-star. The rarity is determined by your Data Bank level only.
Here is a quick summary table to show how the pity system works for Calamity, Overlord, and Elite Class Echoes:
Echo Pity | ||
Echo Class | Pity | Echo Drop 100% |
Elite | 4 | On 4th kill |
Overlord | 2 | On 2nd kill |
Calamity | 2 | On 2nd kill |
Using this pity will help you farm the Echoes you need for your builds, but it can also help you hunt down specific Echoes you need to complete your Data Bank and quickly progress your account.
