Wuthering Waves is just around the corner, and if you’re planning to try it out, it would be a great idea to learn how to get your guaranteed 5-star characters. You should also check out all of the available characters in advance because you’ll be able to get a 5-star selector banner as well.

Wuthering Waves Beginner Banner
To start with, you’ll need a good amount of Lustering Tides in Wuthering Waves in order to pull on the beginner banner. You’ll receive quite a lot of those just playing through the game, so make sure to avoid spending your Astrite, which is the premium currency in the game.
You’ll need to pull on the beginner banner to receive a guaranteed 5-star character in 50 pulls. You’ll receive one from all of the available characters on launch at random.

Wuthering Waves Guaranteed/Standard Banner
This beginner banner in Wuthering Waves is not where you get your selector. Once you receive your guaranteed 5-star, you’ll unlock the option for the standard banner. The standard banner is where you’ll be able to select the 5-star you want, and it will be guaranteed in 80 pulls.
Again, as good as this sounds, you should only ever pull on this banner when you have Lustering Tides, as it would be a waste to use your Astrite. This is because, in most Gacha games, the premium banner characters power creep the standard characters.

Wuthering Waves: Why You Shouldn’t Use Astrite on the Guaranteed Banner
There are many good characters in Wuthering Waves, and essentially, you don’t need any of the 5-star characters to progress. For example, Baizhi is a free healer who does a great job supporting your team, meaning you don't need Verina on day 1. The MC is a great, well-balanced character who can handle most situations.
You also get a few characters for free that fill out some of the roles you’ll need. Guaranteeing yourself a good limited 5-star character would be the better choice here, as Yinlin, for example, is unlikely to get power-crept due to her unique outro skill that provides an electro DMG boost to the next character.
You can view these banners similar to the ones in Honkai: Star Rail, where you also had a guaranteed 5-star. The difference is that in Wuthering Waves, you get to receive your character in just 80 pulls (and you can get it early), as opposed to the 300 needed in Star Rail. Also, there’s a chance you “miss” the character you wanted before you’ve used all 80 pulls, but that doesn’t reset your pity.
