Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.5 Leaks: Skins Added to the Game!

Not a year has passed since Zenless Zone Zero’s release this July 4th, 2024. Yet despite the game being only half a year old, the developers have been hard at work, tweaking and changing the game. Version 1.4 even brought a ton of new systems and changes to previous features, such as the Decibel system, which was an integral part of the combat loop. Yet despite this, the developers turned the game on its head, more or less having a soft launch for Zenless Zone Zero. Following the success that version 1.4 is seeing, the developers do not seem to be slowing down at all. With a number of leaks for Version 1.5 already out, such as the kits for both Astra Yao and Evelyn, we recently got some new pieces of information that certainly seem quite interesting.

Skins Added to ZZZ

Following recent leaks, it was discovered that Nicole, one of the faces of Zenless Zone Zero and the leader of the Cunning Hares, will be receiving a skin in Version 1.5. Given the way miHoYo has gone about skins in their previous games, it was more or less anticipated that skins would eventually make their way to ZZZ, but no one expected it to be this early. Considering Honkai: Star Rail has yet to receive its first skin, after close to two years of being live, it is certainly surprising to see Nicole getting one, not even a year into the game’s release. Although Nicole's skin is only the first to be added, the fact that the skin will be available opens the door to more skins becoming available down the line.

How Skins Work in ZZZ

We currently only have information about the Nicole skin that will be released in Version 1.5, but from it, we can see that the skin only changes the clothes of the character and does not touch on any of their animations or effect particles. This is similar to how most skins work in Genshin Impact. The skins in Genshin Impact are divided into rarities, similar to the characters. Currently, there is only one 5-star rarity skin in Genshin, and that one is known to have updated visuals, as well as changes to animations and special effects. If Zenless Zone Zero is going this route as well, we can assume that Nicole’s skin will be an A-Rank skin, as it only touches up her outer appearance and nothing else. However, this does not close the possibilities for other skins, and maybe even S-Rank skins in the future.

Possible Future Skins

Although not confirmed, there is also further leaked information about potential future skins. The leaker [leifa] has shared on Reddit that the beta client for version 1.5 contains items for Ellen and Astra Yao that have similar entries to those of Nicole’s skin. This hints that maybe there are already plans to have skins for said characters. That being said, this is only early information and should thus be taken with a huge grain of salt, but it doesn’t stop Ellen fans from hoping that their favorite character will get an entirely new look in future updates!
