How To Train Your Dragon Remake A Trip Down Memory Lane
Since we know that the live-action version of the movie is a remake of the original one, it's worth going back to the first plot. The story focuses on Hiccup, who we all remember as the young and clumsy lad from the village called Berk. Although every other Viking seems to love killing dragons, Hiccup has a completely different opinion. However, he still wants to impress his father, who happens to be the village chief called Stoick the Vast.
That's why he comes up with a brand new way to deal with dragons, and it doesn't involve murdering them but just talking them down. Hiccup ends up capturing a Night Fury - one of the most dangerous species of dragons on the planet. However, they quickly become friends, and he calls him Toothless. The main purpose of the protagonist is to train his dragon to show the rest of the Vikings that they can coexist with the other creatures. The story of Hiccup and Toothless was so touching that it inspired a sequel and an entire spinoff TV show.
How To Train Your Dragon Remake Official Release
In February 2023, thirteen years after the original movie, How To Train Your Dragon, it was reported that Universal Studios and Dean DeBlois are working together to create a new live-action adaptation of the story. The co-producers are Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, who will join forces with John Powell - the genius in charge of the film's music. A few months after it became clear that there would be a remake, Mason Thames and Nico Parker were cast to star as Hiccup and Astrid.
The development process was supposed to begin in July 2023 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but it had to be postponed because of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. When it was finally over, the new screen tests were scheduled for December 2023. Filming started on January 15, 2024, and it ended on May 16, 2024. The official release date for the live-action How To Train Your Dragon is June 13, 2025.

How To Train Your Dragon Live-Action Cast
As previously mentioned, the protagonist of the franchise will be played by Mason Thames, and Nico Park will step into the shoes of Astrid. Moreover, Gerard Butler will take the role of Stoick the Vast, and Nick Frost will be Gobber the Belch. Of course, these aren't the only surprises that the producers have planned.
Julian Dennison and Gabriel Howell will take the supporting roles of Fishlegs and Snotlout, while Bronwyn James and Harry Trevaldwyn will play Ruffnut and Tuffnut.
