League of Legends 14.17: S-Tier Support Champions

Senna
Riot had to nerf Senna because she was becoming too OP in the bot lane. However, the changes to her stats didn't make much difference and she's still one of the best supports in patch 14.17. What's great about her is that passive can scale indefinitely.
PROS:
- Versatile
- Huge carry potential
- Not reliant on the ADC
CONS:
- Squishy
- Slow AA

Seraphine
Seraphine is getting a nerf to her W (heal and cooldown) and you can definitely feel the change. She's still a great and very versatile Ranked pick, having a shield, heal, charm, and solid damage in her kit.
PROS:
- Versatile kit
- Strong Utility
- Heal and shield
- Low pick and ban rate
CONS:
- Squishy

Leona
Despite the Warmog's Armor nerf in patch 14.17, Leona is still crushing the bot lane. She's a very reliable tank with a great stun.
PROS:
- Great roaming
- Lots of CC
CONS:
- Teem reliant
- Not versatile at all - all you do is engage

Lux
Honestly, when was the last time Lux left the Support S-Tier? The Lady of Luminosity is one of the best choices for those supports who don't duo with a premade ADC as she can offer some insane damage, a shield, short cooldowns, and lots of utility, enough to carry even the worst ADC.
PROS:
- Great burst damage
- Easy to play
- Short cooldowns late and mid-game
CONS:
- Squishy
- Skillshot-reliant

Morgana
Similar to Lux, when hasn't Morgana been insanely OP? We can't remember when was the last time she wasn't in the S-tier, thanks to her insane shield and stun.
PROS:
- One of the best shields in the game
- Stun and AoE
CONS:
- Squishy

Blitzcrank
Blitz is basically Morgana's other half when it comes to OP champions feared by all champions.
PROS:
- Strong early on
- Amazing hook which is feared by many players
CONS:
- Completely reliant on his hook
- High mana costs and cooldowns

Thresh
Thresh is still a great support pick for Ranked thanks to his crowd control, mobility, and utility. He can easily engage in fights and peel for his team. Thresh is very reliable and you can't go wrong with picking him!
PROS:
- Good engage
- Tanky
CONS:
- Long cooldowns

Nami
Nami is still in the S-Tier thanks to her healing. Her crowd control and buffing also help a lot in the lane and when it comes to team fights.
PROS:
- Fun to play
- Helps with sustain
CONS:
- Squishy
- Relies on items

Lulu
Lulu is another LoL champion who's keeping their S-Tier position on this list. She's versatile and very useful for the team. Her protection and buffs are incredible.
PROS:
- Great engage and disengage
- Strong early game
CONS:
- Squishy
- Relies on the team, useless 1v1

League of Legends 14.17: A-Tier Support Champions

Pyke
Patch 14.17 hit Pyke with a nerf to his base armor, making him less sustainable in lane. The good Pyke mains won't be bothered much by this change since he's keeping his huge damage.
PROS:
- Insane damage
- Stealth
CONS:
- Useless when behind
- Bad at pushing

Braum
Braum is landing in the A-Tier this time around. Don't get us wrong, his slows and stuns, are still amazing for peeling for your teammates. His shield is a great tool in the current meta.
PROS:
- Roaming
- Great peel
CONS:
- No sustain
- No poke

Soraka
Soraka is the perfect support for a reckless ADC - she's always there to heal you when you need it the most. Not only that, but her ult can heal the whole team, meaning a good Soraka can keep an eye on and help all lanes. Also, she's so much fun to play!
PROS:
- Global ult
- One of the best healers
CONS:
- Squishy

Janna
Janna might be squishy but this doesn't mean she's not incredibly powerful when played correctly. Her tornado can knock up multiple enemies, disrupting their positioning, while her shield not only absorbs damage but also grants an AD boost.
PROS:
- One of the best shields
- Great peeling
CONS:
- Squishy
- Low range

Milio
Patch 14.15 really gave Milio the kick he needed and he has been doing amazing ever since. He's a stable and reliable champion pick for Ranked.
PROS:
- Lots of utility
- Fun to play
CONS:
- Low CC
- Reliant on ADC

Rakan
Rakan is keeping his A-tier spot on the support list due to his playmaking potential and versatility. His ability to engage and disengage easily makes him a great pick for both the laning phase and team fights.
PROS:
- Mobility
- Amazing engagement and disengagement
- Roaming
CONS:
- No damage

Maokai
Maokai keeping his A-tier spot from the last Support list. He's pulling through with lots of tankiness and crowd control. Plus, he's amazing in team fights.
PROS:
- Versatile and flexible builds
- Offers engage, disengage, sustain and poke
CONS:
- A weaker landing phase than some supports

Yuumi
Yuumi is supposedly performing very well in this League of Legends meta. However, she will never be THAT girl, especially in low elo where players like to attach her to the ADC and go AFK.

Tahm Kench
A tanky pick with unique abilities. Tahm Kench will bring the utility you need in both laning and team fights.

Alistar
Alistar's Q and W combo is unmatchable, easily disrupting the enemies and setting up kills even for the worst ADC out there.

Bard
Bard is bringing some good mixed damage to the Summoner's Rift. Aside from his huge hit box issues, he's doing amazing in the current support meta.

Sona
Sona promises a combination of damage, utility, and crowd control, making her a formidable support, capable of adapting to all sorts of situations.
PROS:
- Healing
- Stun
- Great in most team comps
CONS:
- Squishy
- Mana-dependant

Xerath
Xerath remains an amazing pick for the support role. His Q allows him to bully enemies from a huge distance, while his W slows and damages them. A well-positioned Xerath can dominate the game, making your opponents rage quit.
PROS:
- Long range
- Insane burst and DPS
CONS:
- Squishy
- Dependent on items

Nautilus
The Celestial Opposition nerf from patch 14.17 is not good for Nautilus but it's not bad enough to take his A-Tier spot.

League of Legends 14.17: B-Tier Support Champions

Zyra
Zyra is losing some of her influence in the current League of Legends patch. She's dominant compared to previous versions but she's still a decent pick due to her ability to zone enemies and control the battlefield with her plants.
PROS:
- Versatile
- Easy to pick up
CONS:
- Lots of kills and farm stealing
- No mobility

Vel'Koz
Vel'Koz offers poke, crowd control, and damage output. Although he can be somewhat squishy at times, he makes up for it with his long rage.

Taric
Taric's kit offers a mix of healing, crowd control, and invulnerability, but there's a lot more to want from him in this current meta.

Swain
Swain is currently performing simply 'okay' in the support role, offering a mix of crowd control, sustain, and significant damage output.
PROS:
- Versatile
- Lots of AoE damage
- Great in team fights
CONS:
- Mana-dependent and mana-hungry
- Immobile

Zilean
Zilean has been performing surprisingly well in recent patches, and it's great to see some of the less popular champions making a comeback.
PROS:
- Good mobility
- Great slow
CONS:
- Squishy

Brand
Brand is not as OP as he used to be but he's still dealing some decent damage. However, keep in mind that damage is not enough for the support role in the current meta!
PROS:
- Amazing AoE damage
- Easy to pick up and master
CONS:
- Bad utility
- Easily out-sustained

Renata Glask
Renata is not quite strong, but not weak either. She sits in a balance that makes her feel overlooked in the current meta. There’s potential for her to shine if given the right adjustments but they're not here yet.
PROS:
- Great in team fights
- Good poke
CONS:
- Short range
- Squishy
- Slow

Neeko
Neeko is a versatile and very fun champion pick. She can be an impactful support in the right hands, blending crowd control, damage, and utility.
PROS:
- Great roaming and CC
- Amazing wave clear
- Easy to play
CONS:
- Falls behind easily and can't get good again
League of Legends 14.17: C-Tier Support Champions

Hwei
Not much has changed for Hwei since LoL patch 14.15. Sure. He's still a versatile champion with a lot of potential which isn't being explored by Riot currently. Who knows? Maybe he'll get a little help soon.
PROS:
- Versatile
- Good wave clear
CONS:
- Squishy
- Hard to master

Camille
Camille is known as a top laner, despite her short-lived support moment. Her kit provides a mix of mobility, crowd control, and damage but it's not enough compared to what other supports bring to the table.

Annie
Yeah, Annie can do some serious damage and stun but this isn't enough in the current League of Legends Ranked meta.

League of Legends 14.17: D-Tier Support Champions

Teemo
Teemo is performing worse than he did in patch 14.16. Do not pick him as support!
PROS:
- Easy to pick up and master
- Lots of damage
CONS:
- Squishy
- Bad in team fights

Ashe
Support Ashe is definitely a miss in LoL Patch 14.17. She might not even be included in the next support tier list as she's losing popularity in this role.

Malphite
Malphite is not in a good place in this LoL patch. While his ability to initiate fights and provide crowd control can be effective, he lacks the same level of utility and versatility that many other supports have.

Anivia
Anivia's ice walls won't be helping any ADC in the current support meta.
