League of Legends patch 15.2 has been here for a week now and it sure did stir up the meta. There are some buffs and some nerfs that did have a say in which champions should be played and which ones should be avoided in Ranked. Mel was absolutely OP so the LoL team had to roll out an unexpected hot fix, stabilizing her performance. Here are the best champion pics for mid lane Ranked climbing in patch 25.S1.2 according to us.

Tier List Explanation

This tier list will examine some of the most-played League of Legends champions in the mid lane. Keep in mind that this is for Emerald+ divisions.
- S-Tier: The best champions you can use to ensure you are always victorious.
- A-Tier: Great options but lacking just slightly either in terms of damage or utility.
- B-Tier: Viable and reliable in most situations, you can manage rather decently.
- C-Tier: Picks that should probably be avoided in the current meta.
NOTE: Although this tier list strives to be as objective as possible in terms of viability, you should not limit yourself to strictly adhere to this list, but rather experiment and see which champion feels fun to play with.

S-Tier Champions in 15.2

No changes here—the roaming king remains firmly in the S-tier. Akshan continues to dominate the mid-lane meta, excelling with his mobility, burst damage, and game-changing pick potential. His ability to snowball leads makes him a relentless threat, capable of turning fights in an instant.

Yes, Viktor didn't leave the S-tier in this patch, thanks to the recent rework he received. He's still an amazing Ranked pick in the new patch. You get a good laning phase and insane AoE damage with this one.

Lux
Lux is an absolute menace in the current LoL patch. She brings the full package—crowd control, burst damage, and a clutch shield to keep her team alive. Whether poking from a distance or locking down enemies with her snare, she’s a constant threat on the Rift.

Hwei
Hwei is exactly what the current meta craves—a high-damage mage with exceptional waveclear and utility. His ability to control fights and dictate the pace of the game makes him a top-tier pick right now.
Other S-Tier Champions:
- Ahri
- Galio
- Sylas
- Syndra
- Xerath
- Cassiopeia
- Vladimir
- Anivia
- Vel'Koz

A-Tier Champions in 15.2

Mel
Mel is the newly released champion in League of Legends who was absolutely OP upon release. She was SO strong that Riot Games had to release a surprise hotfix, nerfing her. The Arcane star is still amazing, just not as broken as she used to be.

Irelia
Irelia remains a solid choice for Ranked, thanks to her high mobility and consistent damage. However, Patch 15.2 hit her hard, reducing the damage on her W, E, and R. She’s still viable, just not as oppressive.

Orianna
Orianna is in a great spot in the current LoL meta, a change that will be most appreciated by high-Elo players who can fully utilize her precision and control.

Vex
Vex is a slightly underrated but incredibly fun champion to play. She's especially good against high mobility champions, such as Yasuo, Akshan, and Irelia, as they trigger her passive.
Other A-Tier Champions:
- Neeko
- Aurelion Sol
- Zoe
- Fizz
- Annie
- Karma
- Kayle
- Ryze
- Taliyah
- Aurora
- Garen
- Yone
- Yasuo

B-Tier Champions in 15.2

Katarina
Katarina may have started the season with a flashy new skin, but she’s far from shining on the Rift. As a high-risk, high-reward champion, she’s completely dependent on the skill of the player and the right game conditions to succeed. Without a lead, she struggles to make an impact.

Diana
Diana offers incredible roaming potential, making her a strong pick for setting up plays across the map. However, she lacks the raw power to single-handedly carry games in this patch. That said, her mobility and fun, explosive kit still make her an okay choice in Ranked.

Zed
Assassins are struggling in the current meta, as you can see from the tier list. While Zed remains a fan-favorite—especially in low Elo—he’s just not performing well right now. His high skill ceiling and predictable playstyle make him easier to shut down in higher ranks.
Other B-Tier Champions:
- Talon
- Swain
- Twisted Fate
- Akali
- Qiyana
- Gragas
- Ziggs
- LeBlanc
- Naafiri
- Annie
- Ekko

C-Tier Champions in 15.2

Smolder
Smolder got a buff in patch 25.S1.2. His Q damage scales up to Critical Strike Multiplier based on Critical Strike Chance, allowing his Q to benefit from Infinity Edge. However, this wasn't enough and he's still one of the LoL champions with the lowest win rates.
Other C-Tier Champions:
- Jayce
- Corki
- Tristana
- Gangplank
- Azir
